This event, originally scheduled for 10th September was postponed, but is now rescheduled for 8th October.
Save London Motorcycling and MAG are organising a joint protest ride against Hackney’s parking proposals.
Their proposals include –
– all motorcycle and scooter parking to be charged at the same prices as cars
– residents permits up to £850 a year for a motorcycle, business permits up to £1800
– solo motorcycle bays charged at up to £6 an hour
– banning commuting by motorcycle or scooter with 4 hour maximum stay limits in most bays
All motorcycles will have to pay the same prices as cars to park, both for residents permits, and pay-and-display rates of up to £6 an hour. This will apply even in solo bike bays. Hackney’s plans would also mean maximum stay limits for cars apply to motorcycles, and therefore a ban on commuting by motorcycle in most parts of Hackney. This would apply even for electric motorcycles and scooters.
