Riders, Tell MAG About Motorcycle-Friendly Candidates Before 1st May!

Politicians are ramping up the noise ahead of the 1st May 2025 local elections—let’s grasp this opportunity! Tell MAG About Motorcycle-Friendly Candidates.  At the Motorcycle Action Group (MAG), we’re pushing hard, and personally I’m voting in Worcestershire, asking candidates to open Worcester’s bus lanes to motorcyclists. With 23 councils and six mayoral contests up for grabs, turnout often lags at 30-40%. Are riders missing a chance to shape policies like bus lane access? Bikers are voters—let’s act now!

Why Riders Must Act

Local elections decide road policies—bus lanes, potholes, parking, and Clean Air Zones. MAG’s #Bikers4BusLanes campaign is fighting nationally for default motorcycle access to bus lanes, with our petition gaining steam https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/712763. This national push doesn’t stop local battles—keep fighting for access where you ride! Bus lanes boost safety and cut congestion, but disengagement risks policies that ignore us.

MAG’s focused on four Metro Mayor races—Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, West of England, Greater Lincolnshire, and Hull and East Yorkshire—due to limited resources. That’s why every rider must engage. I’m quizzing Worcestershire candidates; you can too. Find yours at whocanivotefor.co.uk.

Are You Speaking Up?

Have you asked a candidate about bus lane access? With 1,600+ councillors and six mayors elected on 1st May, 1.2 million UK riders could shift the debate. A MAG member’s running for Doncaster mayor, and some Metro Mayor candidates ride themselves—connect with them now!

Seize This Moment

Riding’s under threat—costs, restrictions, and patchy bus lane access. If bus lanes aren’t your issue (access granted or none exist), raise secure parking or potholes. Sign the #Bikers4BusLanes petition https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/712763, email candidates, and vote on 1st May. Local leaders won’t act unless we demand it.

Don’t Let Apathy Win

If we stay silent, Worcestershire’s bus lanes stay closed, potholes grow, and parking worsens. I’m pushing candidates and signed the petition—join me! Engage Metro Mayor riders in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, West of England, Greater Lincolnshire, and Hull and East Yorkshire. Report motorcycle-friendly candidates to campaigns-coordinator@mag-uk.org. Vote on 1st May. Bikers are voters—shape motorcycling’s future!
